In 2008, more than 13,310 New York women were diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, 2,650 of these women did not live to see 2009.

Last year, our governor took a stand for New York women, protecting vital funding for the Cancer Services Program, which provides early detection screening to disadvantaged women in our state.

But due to budget shortfalls, New York has proposed cutting over $8 million dollars from Cancer Services Program funding – putting at risk thousands of women our governor just recently worked to save.

Don't let that happen! Click here and urge your state legislators to honor their commitment and protect funding for the Cancer Services Program.

As a dedicated Komen Activist, you know the importance of early detection. When breast and cervical cancer are detected early, patients have more treatment options and a greater rate of survival.

The Cancer Services Program has been providing lifesaving screening services to New Yorkers for 20 years. And just last year, it helped 80,500 people get screened for cancer.

As more people lose their jobs and health coverage in this tough economy, programs such as the Cancer Services Program provide a vital lifeline to those in need. That's why it's critical our elected officials hear from us right now!

Please take moment and urge our leaders to restore funding for early detection services for all women in New York.

Together we can ensure that New York's poor and disadvantaged women are given a fighting chance.

Thank you for your support!
