What will doomsday look like at the MTA? Now you can see for yourself. We've posted all 193 proposed service cuts on transit maps of the 5 boroughs, and the result is not a pretty sight. How will service cuts affect your life? Do you ride the W in Brooklyn? Or the Q56 in Queens? Maybe the M8 gets you cross-town in the morning? Click on your borough below to print a custom doomsday map. Then mail it to your state legislators, telling them what service cuts would mean for you. Decision-makers in Albany need to see what the MTA's proposal will really mean for their constituents – longer commutes, longer wait times, inconvenient routes, and all of it with lighter wallets. Mass transit is the engine of New York's economy. Our trains and buses serve workers, tourists, students, businesses and families, and when New Yorkers can get where they need to go, everybody benefits: riders, businesses, our entire economy and our environment. If the Albany decision-makers fail to approve a new source of stable funding by the MTA's March 25th deadline, New York's economy will take another devastating blow. Click on your borough from the list above to check out what the MTA's doomsday plan really looks like. Then, print a copy of your map and send it to your state representatives, with a personal note telling them why you need them to fairly and fully fund transit with a plan like the Ravitch Commission has proposed. Show our leaders in Albany exactly why they must act before March 25th – the livelihoods and quality of life of their constituents depend on it. Every sector of our economy profits from affordable, convenient transportation, and so every sector, not just riders, must contribute to keep New York moving. The clock is ticking. Tell your representatives why the doomsday clock must be stopped with an alternative like the Ravitch plan. Sincerely, Michael O'Loughlin Campaign for New York's Future |
