Scientists think they may have discovered a drug that would erase your bad memories. Apparently bad or fearful memories stay longer than the good ones.
They tested people buy giving them pictures of spiders and teaching them to associate it with a “mild shock” which would create a fearful memory. Then, they gave the drug- propranolol. And when they saw the spider pic again24 hours later they had a greatly decreased fear response.
This is pretty bad ass. I have a hard time holding onto anger and bad memories. It would be nice not to hold onto that anger and fear anymore.
But, the article brings up a good point: If you can erase your bad memories with just a pill, if it “alters what it means to be human”…. Thoughts?
