Still Time to Speak Out!

Yesterday, legislators completed two days of hearings to consider alternatives to the MTA's "doomsday" transit plan, but there's still time to let Albany know that fare hikes and service cuts aren't the solution. We need a long-term plan, like the Ravitch Commission's plan, that supports, maintains, and improves the vast transportation system so many New Yorkers rely on.

NYC's Greener Future Begins at the Polls

In a special election Tuesday, February 24, voters in Queens' 32nd district and Staten Island's 49th district will elect new City Council members. The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and the Campaign for New York's Future are using the election to encourage voters and candidates' to consider issues like mass transit and taking back our waterfront.

The Campaign for New York's Future gathered with civic and community groups at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium subway station to mobilize for full, fair transit funding and against the MTA doomsday plan, which threatens to hit Bronx commuters especially hard.

2/18/09 - State Holds Transit Hearings

Earlier this week, Albany lawmakers held two public hearings to receive input about both the MTA's doomsday plan and the Ravitch Commission's recommendations. The MTA has said it will move forward with the fare hikes and service cuts of the doomsday plan if state leaders do not act by March 25.
